Lounge / Perfect shoutbox
« Last post by colweb on June 11, 2017, 01:07:27 PM »
I used shoutmix for years (paid shoutbox) till they pulled the plug on May 31.

Searching for a new shoutbox I found ishoutbox and oh wonder... its a FREE one with tons of options. Not even 100% but 1000% better then shoutmix. Use it for a week now and I'm very happy with it.

Well.. I made an account and topic, just to say thanks for all the effort in this great, FREE shoutbox.

I've used pretty much every similar free shoutbox, and none of them really had much to offer..
This is packed with features and options, and pretty much exactly what I was looking for, in almost every way.

Anyways this is the first I ever heard of this, and I hope it is still being worked on and improved!
Thanks for such a great release!  :yes:

1. A sticky shout can be made by first creating a shout. Then you go to either the adminpanel (manage shouts), or to the moderation panel. Click on the green flag behind a shout to make it a sticky.

2. You can disable user registrations by logging in at the adminpanel, then go to "Preferences and Settings". Scrolldown to "Enable user registrations" (under "User system settings"), and untick that box. To prevent guests (unregistered users) from posting, you can tick the box at the "Disable guest posting" option.

A few things i need help with.

1. I heard that admin can post sticky message in the shoutbox. Can anyone guide me on how?

2. How do disable anyone from posting in the ishoutbox except admin can post.
meaning my shoutbox is only for reading for everyone, only myself can post.
iShoutbox + Chat4all Shout support and bugs / Username only read??
« Last post by Rekoboy on April 16, 2016, 01:22:28 PM »

I've installed the latest ishoutbox, and the first post is from the maker. His username is green, and I can change it into any color I want.
New usersnames I cannot give another color, because it is in read only, and you have to be the owner. Well I am the owner, but I can't edit it.
The read only message I don't understand.
Anyone a hint?

I just started to work with Ishoutbox, and joined this forum. I've posted on an (old) topic, because I could use some help.
But it seems to me if I have a look below on the site:

Shoutbox continuously loading in ie9 AND 11 by Adonix (iShoutbox + Chat4all Shout support and bugs)August 14, 2015, 10:06:03 PM

That the last post before me was Aug 2015 :(
so my question is again, is this forum alive or should I stay away?

Thanks for an answer?

I do apologize for posting on an old post, but i'm confused and desperate after a few weeks and installing 2 ishoutboxen.
The first box I installed on April 3. Then I tried to change the skin a bit, and wanted to make it transparent. But could not get this done. Then I found this topic yesterday. You talk about complete shoutbox? There were choices?
So yesterday, I registered another ishoutbox for my 2nd website, but didn't find a choice for an complete shoutbox.
I could only reg and got the code and the shoutbox is running.
Again I went into the admin panel to change the skin, but can't figure it out where to make these cells transparent.

I can't find the css (only the head and bottom css, but putting in the code you gave us did not make the cells transparent).

Does this mean that we admins "must" write a css code ourselves and put it in the head section?
I'm not a programmer or how do you call someone who can write css. I can't :(

Hopefully you answer my post.
Tnx in advanced.

Hi remusasriel,

This is something that is on the todo list, as someone else asked for this as well a while back. In the mean time you can fix this by adding your own css in the shoutbox header (see admin panel). The code for that is:

If you selected the "complete" shoutbox during registration, there is already some custom css in the header, just replace it with this one:

<style type='text/css'>
.cell1 {
        font-weight: bold;
body {
   background-color: transparent;

If there is no custom css in the header, you can use this:

<style type='text/css'>
body {
   background-color: transparent;

What this does is make the body that surrounds the shoutbox transparent, not the shoutbox itself. If you want other elements of the shoutbox transparent, then you need to add additional css values for other elements like .cell1, .cell2, .cell3, .cell3b, .tablebg, .table2. You can experiment with the elements to see what works best for you.
If it also happens with newer IE versions, then it can't really be anything other than some configuration issue. If you have a computer capable of running virtual machines, you could download the one with IE9 from the following location, and compare the settings:

Thanks very much Adonix, it's good to know that others can view the shout box.

It's certainly my settings somewhere! Not sure where though, just deleted ie 9 and downloaded and installed ie 11 BUT... It's still the same "Loading"...
